FAQ
Straight answers, no sales talk.
Everything a Coastal Bend homeowner asks us before joining — including the money questions.
What is Homeowner Pass?
Homeowner Pass is a membership with the Bay Area Business Alliance for Coastal Bend homeowners. When something breaks, you make one call to (361) 704-1373. We dispatch a vetted local pro from the Alliance bench, you pay that pro directly at your member rate, and every job's paperwork is filed in your BABA Vault. One number, local pros, published prices, documented work.
Is Homeowner Pass a home warranty?
No. Homeowner Pass is a membership and coordination service run by the Bay Area Business Alliance, a local business alliance here in the Coastal Bend. You get a documented Home Profile, one dispatch number, member pricing on a published rate card, and a local bench of vetted pros. The money for any repair goes from you straight to the pro who did the work — we coordinate it and document it.
How much does it cost?
Three memberships: Protection Pass is $12 a month or $132 a year, Home Shield is $59 a month or $649 a year, and Total Home Concierge is $99 a month or $1,089 a year. Every membership starts with a one-time $29 activation. Repairs themselves are paid by you directly to the provider, at your member discount — 10%, 15%, or 20% off the published rate card, depending on your plan.
Why is there a 30-day waiting period?
Dispatch benefits start 30 days after your membership does. The waiting period keeps the membership honest — it is a plan for your home's year, not an emergency purchase made after a breakdown. Your Home Profile, alerts, and rate-card access start right away, and emergency phone triage is never gated: a member can always reach a human.
What counts as one of my dispatches?
A dispatch is one problem visit: you call, we send a pro, the job gets done and documented. Protection Pass includes 2 a year, Home Shield 4, and Total Home Concierge 6 — on included dispatches, the dispatch fee is on us. Scheduled services you book ahead, like walkthroughs, never use a dispatch — they are booked at rate-card prices and paid directly to your provider.
Who actually does the work?
Local Coastal Bend trade businesses — the member bench of the Bay Area Business Alliance. Providers are vetted before they take Pass work, and every job has a required paperwork checklist: the job cannot be closed until the provider files the job's photos and documents into your BABA Vault. You know who is coming before they arrive — a meet-your-tech text sends their name, photo, and ETA.
How do I pay for a repair?
Directly to the provider who did the work, at your member rate — 10%, 15%, or 20% off the published rate card depending on your plan. The Alliance never takes a cut of the repair and never holds your money for work. Your membership is the only thing you pay us for.
What towns do you serve?
Corpus Christi, Portland, Rockport and Fulton, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, and Port Aransas — the Coastal Bend footprint of the Bay Area Business Alliance. Check your ZIP on the Service Area page; if we do not serve your area yet, we will tell you straight and offer to keep you posted.
What is the BABA Vault?
Your home's document vault. Your Home Profile — every system documented from its nameplate — plus the photos, invoices, and paperwork from every Pass job, organized by job and system. Jobs cannot close until their paperwork is in your Vault, so your home's record builds itself. Total Home Concierge members can also export the whole record as an insurance documentation packet.
What happens when something breaks at night or on a weekend?
You call the same number: (361) 704-1373. Emergency phone triage is never gated — a member can always reach a human, on any plan, whatever the hour. We'll get the bleeding stopped and the right pro scheduled.
Can I give a membership as a gift?
Yes — realtors across the Coastal Bend give a year of Homeowner Pass at closing, and anyone can gift a membership to a new homeowner. The annual plans ($132, $649, or $1,089) are the gift plans. Talk to us on the For Realtors page or call (361) 704-1373 and we will set it up.
Can I cancel?
Memberships carry a 6-month minimum term — that is stated here, before you buy, not buried after. After the minimum, you can cancel through your account or by phone. If you sell your home, your Home Profile and Vault history can transfer to your buyer for free; the membership itself stays yours to cancel or keep for your next home.
Still deciding?
Call the number and talk to the Alliance. It's the same line members use: (361) 704-1373.
